ABSTRACTS OF WILL OF PETER GILSTRAP OF CRAVEN COUNTY, NC. WILL BOOK A, page 361. 10 November 1795. Peter Gilstrap, Planter. Beloved wife Mary Gilstrap. Plantation whereon I now live containing seventy-six acres, that is if she shall choose to sell it and go into the back country and carry the children with her, her due, shall be good, otherwise if she continues here to her death, the said land shall be sold and the money equally divided between the four children: Polly Gilstrap, Bright Gilstrap, Wealthy Gilstrap, and Winefred Gilstrap. To Mary Gilstrap Ninety-six acres of land on the Gum Pecoisin, to be disposed of as the land before mentioned... Beloved son Benjamin Gilstrap, Five shillings. To beloved son Richard Gilstrap, five shillings. To son Lewis Gilstrap, five shillings, to beloved daughter Ellender Johnson, five shillings, I appoint my son Lewis Gilstrap executor with my wife Mary. Witnesses: Thos. Pryor, Ept. Swann. Proved at court by oath of Thomas Pryor.

I Benjamin Smith being in a low state of health but of sound mind and memory… I give to my daughter Rebecca Chapman an equal part of my property or an equal part of the money after the property is sold and expenses paid. I give to my daughter Mary Agnew an equal part of property or money. I give to my daughter Hanah Adams an equal part of property or money and one loom, one pair of stillards, and one looking glass. I give to my daughter Elizabeth McKinney an equal part of my property or money. I give to my son James Smith an equal part of my property or money with my daughters except Hanah Adams . I give to my son Job Smith an equal part of Property or money with my son James Smith. I give to my son Jonathan Smith an equal part of property or money with his brothers. I give to my son William Smith an equal part of my property or money. I give to my son David Smith an equal part of my property or money. I give to my son Sidney Smith an equal part of property or money. I also give him my still. I appoint my sons James Smith , William Smith , and Elijah Adams executers. Dated this 18th April 1834.
